Getting started with Deadlock Contracts
There are two independent paths: match contracts with verified results, and an archive with ciphers and cards. Start with the one you enjoy.
1. Explore the bureau
Try the teaching cipher without registering, or preview contract signing. These demos spend no currency, save no progress and need no companion.
2. Save your progress
Sign in through Steam. Your dashboard lets you complete archive activities, collect cards, customize a profile and join player bureaus. Archive tokens and XP from match contracts are separate values.
3. Sign before playing
Choose an available mode and objectives, review the conditions and sign your case before the match. Follow its status: verification needs an eligible match and sufficient data. Delayed statistics do not mean an immediate failure.
Is this a Deadlock mod or a separate website?
Deadlock Contracts is a separate website with match challenges for Deadlock, Valve's game. It does not replace game files or add combat abilities. Choose a contract before a match, play Deadlock and follow result verification in your dashboard.
Can I create any objective I want?
Players currently select objectives from the available board for their mode. Verification uses each objective's stated conditions and available match statistics. Arbitrary text does not become an automatically verifiable contract; check the conditions of the specific objective.
What can I try without registering?
Public guides, the signing preview and the teaching cipher work without sign-in. Saving real contracts, cards and progress requires Steam sign-in. Packs use archive tokens; cards stay on the website and are not Steam inventory items.
What about the companion?
Deadlock Contracts Companion is in development and under Overwolf review. It is not required for website ciphers, collections or bureaus. It supplies supported game signals but cannot award XP by itself. Never share access to your Overwolf account.
